OUR COMPANY

Black Dog Hockey (bdehockey.com) is the live streaming and video-on-demand website of Black Dog Enterprises, a company founded in San Jose, California by Andy Dickerson in June 2011. We are proud to partner with an increasingly large number of sports organizations to provide high quality streaming and recording services to a worldwide audience.

The 2023-24 season marks our 13th year in operation! Over the past 12 years, our company has had the privilege of covering some fantastic events and working with some amazing individuals.

We have produced over 400 Scouting Reels for aspiring athletes, many of whom have utilized our services to advance to higher levels of hockey in the junior, collegiate and minor professional ranks. Samples of our latest work can be found on our YouTube channel.

We have also covered a number of prestigious events at many levels, including the past four NHL Rookie Tournaments on the West Coast: the 2023 Rookie Faceoff (Vegas), the 2022 Rookie Faceoff (San Jose), the 2021 Arizona Rookie Face-Off and the 2019 Anaheim Rookie Face-Off. During the 2023-24 season, we produced three telecasts for the San Jose Barracuda (AHL) that were broadcast by NBC Sports California.

In the collegiate ranks, we have covered national level events for Amateur Athletic Union College Hockey, including the 2023 AAU College Hockey National Championship, the 2022 CHF Federation Cup Tournament, the 2021 Dr. Roger Goudy Memorial Hockey Festival and the 2020 CHF Federation Cup Tournament

Other notable events include the 2015 Pacific District Championships and the 2018 Pacific District Championships, the 2014 and 2017 ACHA Men's D2 West Regional Playoffs, the 2015 California vs. Carolina League All-Star Game and multiple California Amateur Hockey Association State Championships (9 events between 2012 and 2018).

Our company is the embodiment of our founder's shared love of competitive sports and multimedia production. Through our collegiate partnerships we are able to provide a unique environment for talented students with aspirations of pursuing a career in broadcasting to gain valuable experience working in a professional setting on the varied projects we are privileged to tackle.

OUR PARTNERS

Heading into the 2023-24 season, we are proud to have produced live streaming video coverage of games played at over 225 facilities across the North America and partner with organizations in 17 U.S. states. We are the exclusive regional and national streaming video provider of AAU College Hockey and currently produce coverage for 11 of their programs. We also currently produce coverage for 24 American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) programs, including the 8-team Texas Collegiate Hockey Conference (TCHC).

In Summer 2022 we diversified our portfolio with our first extended foray into baseball! We had the pleasure of providing video and streaming production resources for the Bellingham Bells Baseball Club of the West Coast League (WCL).

In the past, we served as the official video providers for all major youth hockey events at Sharks Ice at San Jose (2011-2018). In the high school ranks, we provdied exclusive coverage of the Anaheim Ducks High School Hockey League (2013-2020) and the L.A. Kings High School Hockey League (2015-2020). Finally, in the junior hockey ranks we provided exclusive coverage of Junior A Tier II hockey in the Western States Hockey League (WSHL) from 2016-2021 and provided exclusive coverage of the inaugural half-season of the Can-Am Junior Hockey League (CAJHL) in 2022.

FOUNDER: ANDY DICKERSON

Andy is a two-time graduate of San Jose State University, earning his BA in Radio, Television, & Film in May 2008 and his MA in Theatre Arts in May 2012. The work he performs with Black Dog Enterprises showcases the variety of skills he gained from his time at SJSU where he wrote, shot, and edited many short films, worked on two feature-length films with Spartan Film Studios, spent time as a DJ at the school's radio station (90.5 KSJS), and worked on various television, web, and theater projects.

Andy also played for the SJSU Hockey team from 2006-2011, served as President from 2007-2011 and has served as Webmaster since 2007. He finished his playing career as the team's all-time leader in games played (175) and assists (175) and second (currently third) in points (270). In 2009, he helped the team secure the bid to host the 2011 ACHA Men's Division II National Tournament in San Jose and served as Tournament Co-Director and Executive Producer of the Tournament's Live Online Broadcasts. He also served as the team's General Manager from 2011-2013.

Andy is a certified Group Fitness Instructor (GFI) and works as a coach for Orangetheory Fitness. In his spare time, he also works as a youth and adult ice hockey on-ice official and is a certified USA Hockey officiating instructor and coach. He currently resides in Roseville, CA with his wife and their two young children.
